Central Oklahoma Scores 15 Points In Rumble In The Jungle

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Central Oklahoma continued its busy January of Indoor season racking up 15 points at Pittsburg State's Rumble in the Jungle Friday.

UCO got points from Treasure Vallerie and Sai Brookins-Fleming in the 200m, Genevieve Young in the 600-yard race, and then more from its 4x400 relay team featuring Vallerie and Brookins-Fleming, along with Kerrigan Huynh and Deriayah Lee.

Vallerie finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 25:36 and Brookins-Fleming was right behind her in fifth place with a time of 25.39 seconds. Young recorded a new PR the 600 with a time of 1:28.13 for a fifth-place finish. The relay team also finished fifth with a time of 3:56.61.

Vallerie also ran in the 400 but was disqualied. Brookins-Fleming led the way for UCO in the 400 with a 14th-place finish at 58.04 seconds.

UCO had three field athletes competing in Pittsburg. Talyn Been and Mattison Thetford both cleared 3.07 meters in the pole vault. Abigail Kelly threw 10.66 meters in the shot put.

Lee finished 11th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.30 seconds. She also finished 19th in the 400 at 59.20 seconds - a new PR. Mikayla Stephenson (8.23) and Karly Clemons (8.67) also ran the 60-meter dash Friday. Huynh (58.92), Millner (1:01.71), and Ojene were also in the 400.

Huynh posted a new PR in the 200 with a time of 25.96 seconds. Stephenson (26.90) and Ojene (26.92) also competed in the 200, along with rookie Tyana Hymes (27.49).

Young, Ojene, Millner, Stephenson made up a second UCO relay team and finished the 4x400 in 4:10.57. Asia Williams also competed in the mile and finished in 5:47.29.
