FELLSMERE, Fla.. – After a week-long training trip in Orlando, the Central Oklahoma women's rowing team will travel down the Atlantic coast to take on South Region rivals Barry University and Nova Southeastern on Saturday morning.
Racing will occur in a duel format, with Central facing Barry first, and Nova Southeastern two hours later. The Bronchos will race in the Varsity Eight, Varsity Four, and Novice Four events. The Varsity Eight race begins at 9:00am against Barry, and 11:00am against Nova Southeastern.
This week also marked the first CRCA Coach's Poll of the season, with the Bronchos entering the season ranked sixth in the country, including receiving one first-place vote. Weekend opponents Barry and Nova Southeastern enter the spring season ranked first and second, respectively.
“We're extremely excited to face Barry and Nova this weekend, as it marks the beginning of our Division II season," head coach Andy Derrick said. "We've made some large gains in speed over the course of the fall and thus far in the spring, especially over the past week in Orlando. We know both crews will be excellent competition, and hope to show our speed on Saturday."
