UCO Signs Four

EDMOND (April 27) – Central Oklahoma tennis coach Cari Groce has added three high school stars and a junior college standout to the program for the 2015-16 season.

Signing with the Bronchos last week were Kirtana Bhat of Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson, Ariz., Kendall Helton of Charles Page High School in Sand Springs, Shali Schoepflin of Cowley County (Kan.) Community College and Alix Williams of Jenks High School.

"We're very excited to welcome these incoming players to our program," said Groce, a 20-year coaching veteran who just completed her first season at UCO.  "The added depth to our returning core will give us strength at every position.

"All three players come in with singles successes and a great knowledge of the doubles game. The future looks very bright for our program."

Bhat is in her fourth year as a starter at Catalina Foothills and led the Falcons to back-to-back state championships as a sophomore and junior.  She captured a singles state title last year and is a two-time state doubles champion.

Helton is a four-year starter at Charles Page and has been a multiple state qualifier for the Sandites.

Schoepflin is a product of Edmond Memorial High School, where she twice placed in the state tournament and was an All-State pick as a senior.  She's in her second year as a starter at Cowley County and won a regional championship last year in advancing to the junior college national tournament.

Williams has led Jenks to a pair of state championships during her four-year starting career and earned All-Conference honors as a freshman, sophomore and junior for the Trojans.
