Bronchos Make MIAA Debut Thursday

Central Oklahoma puts a four-game winning streak on the line Thursday when the Bronchos open Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play against unbeaten Lindenwood.
 
Tip-off at Hamilton Field House is 5:30 p.m.  Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (62-plus) and $5 for children (5-17) and UCO faculty/staff.
 
UCO is 6-2 on the season, while the Lions from St. Charles, Mo. are 5-0.
 
The series is tied 2-2.
 
The Bronchos will be back home Sunday to take on conference foe Lincoln at 12 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS:  UCO is riding a four-game winning steak, having won each of the last three games by at least 15 points.
 
The Bronchos downed Southern Nazarene 87-72 Tuesday in their last outing, getting a season-high 27 points and nine rebounds from Julia Mason.  Olivia Mason scored all 17 of her points in the second half behind a perfect 5-for-5 performance from 3-point range.
 
UCO is averaging 72.1 points a game behind a balanced attack that has four players scoring in double figures.  The Bronchos have nine players averaging at least 14.5 minutes a game.
 
Junior Haley Weathers tops the team in scoring with an 11.6 average, while senior Kylie Mayes adds 10.9, O. Mason 10.5 and J. Mason 10.4.  J. Mason is the team's leading rebounder with 5.9 a contest.
 
O. Mason and Weathers have combined for 34 for UCO's 54 treys, having made 17 apiece.  O. Mason is shooting a team-high 48.6 percent from long range (17-of-35).
 
ABOUT THE LIONS:  Lindenwood has won three games by five points or less in its 5-0 start and the Lions lead the MIAA in field goal percentage at 48.4.
 
Kassidy Gengenbacher is averaging 18.2 points a game while shooting 40.0  percent (8-of-20) from 3-point range and 86.2 percent (25-of-29) from the free throw line to lead LU.
 
Jenny Rocha adds 13.0 points and Vanessa Zailo a league-leading 13.6 rebounds.
