INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 23) – Central Oklahoma earned its fifth bid in six years to the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship Tuesday, with the Bronchos set to face Northeastern State at 12 p.m. Saturday in the Central Regional Saturday in Tahlequah.
Third-seeded UCO and the second-seeded RiverHawks are two of four teams to advance to the Central Regional, with top-seeded Southwest Baptist set to host No. 4 Augustana in the other regional contest in Bolivar, Mo. The UCO/NSU and SBU/AC winners advance to Surprise, Ariz. for the final three rounds of the tournament May 8-11.
“We're excited about being in the national tournament again and are looking forward to the challenge of taking on a great NSU team,” said seventh-year head coach Natalya Nikitina-Helvey. “We've had a really good year and want to keep it going as long as we can. I'm really proud of my girls and what we've accomplished this season.”
The Bronchos, 17-3 on the season, lost to NSU 6-3 in the regular season and 5-1 in the semifinals of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championship.
