EDMOND (March 29) –
Kalynn Schrock and Nicole Brady dominated in the pitching circle and Nicole Workman spearheaded the offense as No. 9-ranked Central Oklahoma swept a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association doubleheader from Southwest Baptist here Friday.

Schrock gave up three hits in a 9-1 first-game victory that ended in the sixth inning on the eight-run rule before Brady threw a three-hitter in an 8-0 five-inning rout in the nightcap to give the Bronchos their seventh straight home win.

UCO had 17 hits in the two games, with Workman going 5-for-7 with five runs batted in to lead the way.

The Bronchos, now 22-7 on the year and tied for the league lead with Fort Hays State at 7-1, return to action Saturday to host Central Missouri in a 2 p.m. twinbill.

“We took care of business,” head coach Genny Stidham said.  “Kalynn and Nicole did what they needed to do and we came up with some timely hits.”

Schrock improved to 12-3 with her 10th complete game of the season, though the hard-throwing junior left-hander wasn't at her best in hitting four batters and walking two while striking out five.

UCO was never in trouble after taking a 1-0 lead in the first when Ally Dziadula drew a lead-off walk, stole second, went to third on Devyn Frazier's sacrifice bunt and scored on a wild pitch.

The Bronchos got a run-scoring single from Ashley Noles and RBI sacrifice bunt from Tori Collet in the second before bumping the lead to 4-0 on Kacie Edwards' solo homer – her ninth of the season -- in the third.

Workman delivered a two-run double in the fourth to make it 6-0, with the Lady Bearcats finally getting on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth.

UCO answered back with three runs in the bottom of that frame to end the game on an RBI single by Workman and run-scoring grounders by Hayley Hudson and Brooke Zukerman.

Brady picked up her first win of the season in the nightcap, with the freshman right-hander needing just 57 pitches to get through the game.  Brady, who was set to redshirt this year before going the distance in a 4-1 loss at Midwestern State on Tuesday, scattered three hits and didn't walk a batter while fanning three.

Workman's 3-for-3 performance sparked a 10-hit attack, with Edwards and Sam Cool collecting two hits apiece.

Workman followed Edwards' two-out double with one of her own to give UCO a 1-0 first-inning lead and the Bronchos added three more in the second as Cool and Frazier had RBI singles.

The Bronchos erupted for four runs on five hits in the fourth to up their lead to 8-0, getting consecutive two-out run-scoring hits from Edwards, Workman, Hudson and Zukerman.
