EDMOND (Dec. 21) -
- Olivia Mason sparked a long-range shooting display that carried Central Oklahoma to an 81-63 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rout of Missouri Western Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Field House.

The freshman forward made four of UCO's season-high 12 treys in scoring 18 points and the Bronchos shot a season-best 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from beyond the arc in winning their final game before a two-week holiday break.

"We did a good job finding our shooters and obviously we shot the ball well," said head coach Guy Hardaker, whose team had 17 assists on 27 buckets.  "Western can create a lot of problems with their pressure, but I thought we did a good job with that and it's good to go into the break with a win."

UCO improved to 7-4 on the season and evened its league record at 2-2 while dropping the Griffons to 4-5 and 0-3.  The Bronchos don't return to action until going to Northwest Missouri on Jan. 4.

Olivia Mason was 7-of-12 from the field -- including 4-of-6 from 3-point territory -- in her career-high 18-point outing while adding a team-best seven rebounds.

Jill Bryan made three treys in scoring 17 points, Julia Mason had 13 points and Britney Morgan nailed three 3-pointers in a 12-point, four-assist, three-steal game.  Jordan Ward was big off the bench for UCO with seven points, five assists and two steals.

MWSU led 11-8 early and it was tied at 13 when the Bronchos surged in front to stay, getting 3-pointers from Bryan, Morgan and Olivia Mason in a 14-5 run that put UCO on top 27-18 with 4:15 left in the half.

The lead grew to 15 (35-20) at the 1:30 mark on another Olivia Mason trey from the top of the key before the Griffons scored five quick points, but Rachel New hit a driving left-handed layup just before the buzzer to give the Bronchos a 37-25 halftime advantage.

MWSU never got closer than 10 in the final 20 minutes and UCO's largest lead was 23 (75-52) after a Julia Mason layup with 3:21 remaining before the Bronchos coasted in.
