KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 9) – Central Oklahoma is expected to make a successful debut in women's soccer in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association this season, with the Bronchos picked to finish second in the league.

Defending MIAA champion Central Missouri earned 12 of the 13 first-place votes cast by league head coaches to top the preseason poll with 144 points, while UCO was next with 130.

Truman State garnered the other first-place vote and was third in the balloting with 125 points, followed by Northwest Missouri and Missouri Southern.

The Bronchos of 15th-year head coach Mike Cook return eight starters from last year's 15-4 team that advanced to the NCAA Division II national tournament and UCO was ranked 16th in the preseason national poll.

Practice begins next week and the Bronchos open the 2012 season Aug. 31 at St. Mary's.
