UCO Camp Winding Down

EDMOND (Aug. 17) – Central Oklahoma went through a brief intrasquad scrimmage Friday morning at Wantland Stadium, with the Bronchos set to practice twice Saturday before holding a Sunday evening scrimmage to wrap up the preseason.

UCO benefitted from a cool morning Friday while going through various scrimmage situations, with the offense and defense taking turns holding the upper hand.

“We saw some good things, but we're still having too many busts and are playing too soft,” first-year head coach Nick Bobeck said.  “We've had certain guys step up and show what they can do and there's been others who haven't produced like we need them to.”

The Bronchos will practice in shorts and shoulder pads Saturday morning before returning for a helmets-only workout in the evening.

Sunday's scrimmage is set for a 7 p.m. start at Wantland Stadium and UCO will begin its regular season practice schedule Monday with the start of the fall semester.

“It's been a good camp so far and hopefully we can end it on a positive note these next couple of days,” Bobeck said.  “We've made good progress, but we still have a long, long ways to go before we're ready to play a game.”

The Bronchos open the 2012 campaign Aug. 30 with a 7 p.m. home game against Missouri Southern in their Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association debut.
