EDMOND (Aug. 15) – Central Oklahoma will take on the defending NCAA Division II national champion and four other returning playoff teams in men's basketball in 2012-13 when the Bronchos make their debut in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

UCO will challenge reigning champion Western Washington on Dec. 18 in Las Vegas as part of the two-day Las Vegas Classic in addition to playing returning Division II national tournament teams and new MIAA rivals Washburn,  Northwest Missouri and Missouri Southern.

The Bronchos will also take on near-by rival Oklahoma Christian, which qualified for the NAIA national tournament last season and is now in the transition period of moving to Division II.  Click here for the complete schedule.

“It will definitely be a challenging schedule, but we're looking forward to it,” said 11th-year head coach Terry Evans, who is 208-90 at the UCO helm.  “We're exciting about getting into the MIAA because it's a quality league with a lot of great teams and we're going to have to be ready to play our best every time we step on the floor.”

The Bronchos will play 13 home games after having just seven last season while competed as a Division II independent.  Ten road games and three neutral-site contests round out the schedule.

UCO will meet Oklahoma and Oklahoma City in back-to-back exhibition games on Nov. 7 and 8 before beginning the season with three straight home games, including a Nov. 17 date with OCU.

The Bronchos return two starters and four redshirts from last year's 15-11 team.
