UCO Pair Earn Academic Honor

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (July 6) – Central Oklahoma's Chaney Uhles and Taylor Neidy have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association Division II All-American Scholar Team for 2011-12, it was announced Friday.

It's the second straight year for the two sophomore standouts to make the elite academic squad, which requires student-athletes to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50.

Uhles, a professional golf management major from Fort Worth, Texas, put together one of the best seasons in school history this year in earning second-team All-America honors.

She finished the year with a 75.77 scoring average and top-10 finishes in nine of UCO's 12 tournaments, including seven top-five placings.  Uhles won two titles and tied for fifth at the national tournament, the lowest national finish in school history.

Also a professional golf management major, Neidy ended the year with a 77.62 average.  The Clinton product captured one tournament championship, had five other top-10 finishes and tied for 16th in the national tournament.

Uhles and Neidy led the Bronchos to their first-ever Division II national tournament appearance in May, with UCO finishing eighth.
