Bronchos Add Transfer

EDMOND (July 3) – Central Oklahoma has picked up another Division I transfer for its men's basketball program with the addition of Josh Gibbs.

A 6-foot-5 forward, Gibbs sat out a redshirt year at Sam Houston State last season and will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Bronchos of veteran head coach Terry Evans.

Gibbs was an All-Conference and All-Metro selection as a senior at Raytown High School in Kansas City, Mo. after leading his team to a 27-1 record and then played two years at Butler County (Kan.) Community College.

He averaged 10.1 points and 5.3 rebounds a game as a freshman in helping lead the Grizzlies to a 29-7 record, the conference championship and a berth in the national tournament.  Gibbs came back as a sophomore to average 14.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists a contest.

“Josh is an excellent all-around player who should really have a big impact on our team next year,” Evans said.  “He's very athletic and is able to play just about any position on the floor.”

UCO will be making its debut in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in 2012-13.  The Bronchos return six players from last year – including four redshirts – and have added 10 new players.
