Bronchos Ready For World Series

No. 2-ranked Central Oklahoma makes its second appearance in the NCAA Division II Softball Championship Finals this week when the Bronchos travel to Louisville, Ky. as winners of the South Central Region.

The Bronchos, who have won a school-record 44 games (44-7), take on Southeast Region champion Flagler at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (Oklahoma time) at Knights Field on the campus of Bellarmine University.

The eight-team tournament is divided into two, four-team brackets, with the winner of each meeting for the national championship at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The other game in UCO's bracket pits Midwest Region champion St. Joseph's (34-18) against East Region and No. 18-rated Southern Connecticut (42-11).

Play continues Thursday with the two first-round winners meeting at 12:30 p.m. and the two losers at 5:30. Two more games are on tap Friday and the “if necessary” game is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. before the national title contest.
