UCO Keeps On Rolling

MARYVILLE, Mo. (April 7) -- Rain forced the match inside, but that wasn't near enough to slow down Central Oklahoma here Saturday morning as the Bronchos routed Northwest Missouri 5-1.

The No. 26-ranked Bronchos improved to 12-5 with their 10th win in 11 matches in continuing a late-season surge that has UCO looking to push for a berth in the NCAA Division II national tournament.

UCO picked up identical 8-4 victories in all three doubles matches to jump on top 3-0 and closed out the match by winning two of the first three singles bouts.

Anna Kochigina and Rose Cabato won their singles matches, while Elizabeta Abramovic and Julia Shviadok both were up a set when their matches were halted when UCO earned its fifth point to clinch the win.

“I was happy with our performance today, especially in doubles,” head coach Natalya Nikitina-Helvey said.  “Now we need to get ready for the most important stretch of the season with four tough matches coming up next week.”

The Bronchos wrap up the regular season next week, going to Northeastern State Tuesday, before heading to Texas to play three matches in two days on Friday and Saturday.
