OKLAHOMA CITY (April 20) -- Central Oklahoma's eight-game winning streak came to an end here Friday night when Oklahoma Christian handed the Bronchos a 5-4 setback at Dobson Field.
UCO was outhit 10-7 and committed four errors in losing for just the second time in 16 outings, falling to 29-14 on the season. The Bronchos put an 11-game home winning streak on the line Saturday when the two teams finish a three-day, three-game series with a 2:30 p.m. contest at Wendell Simmons Field.
UCO led 2-0 early, getting an RBI squeeze bunt from Eric Garza in the second inning an a run-scoring bloop single from Austin Rycroft in the third.
The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead, but the Bronchos managed an unearned run in the top of the fourth to tie it.
OC broke the deadlock and went ahead to stay in the seventh, turning three hits and a pair of errors into two runs for a 5-3 advantage before UCO turned a double play to avoid more damage.
The Bronchos threatened in their final at bat, with Cameron Mavroulis drilling a two-out single up the middle before Tucker Brown followed with an RBI double off the left field wall to make it 5-4.
But the Eagles got a game-ending groundout to stop the rally and end UCO's winning streak.
Brown had two of the team's seven hits.
