ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (April 10) – A pair of top-three individual finishes led Central Oklahoma to a third-place showing in the Sonoma State Spring Invitational that concluded in the rain here Tuesday.

Chaney Uhles claimed medalist honors and Taylor Neidy came in third as the Bronchos shot a closing 309 to finish two trips around the par-72 Foxtail Golf Club with a 626 total, just two shots behind winner Grand Canyon.  Host Sonoma State was third in the nine-team tournament at 625.

It was the final tournament of the spring season for UCO, which will now wait to see if it will earn a berth into the NCAA Division II regional tournament that will be held in early May.

Uhles fired a final-round 75 to come in at five-over 149 in claiming the individual title by two shots. Taylor also closed with a 75 and tied for third at 152.

The Bronchos also got a 79 from Lindsey Bensch, while Mychael McWhorter shot 80 and Tressa Brumley 82.  Katie Bensch added an 84 playing as an individual.

“We had a solid round today in pretty tough conditions with the rain,” UCO coach Michael Bond said.  “Chaney and Taylor were both steady all day and played well.  We've had a great spring season and are hoping we can continue that in the regional.”
