PITTSBURG, Kan. (March 9) –
Nathalie Timmermans belted a pair of home runs to lead another offensive assault that carried Central Oklahoma to a doubleheader sweep of future conference rival Pittsburg State here Friday.

The Bronchos had 16 hits in a 16-7 first-game rout that ended after six innings on the eight-run rule and followed with an 11-hit attack in an 11-3 second-game thrashing that also ended after six.

UCO stretched its winning streak to 15 straight with the sweep to tie a school record set back in 1986.  The Bronchos, now 17-3 on the season, go to Joplin, Mo. Saturday for two games against Missouri Southern.

UCO is playing as an NCAA Division II independent this season before joining PSU and MSSU in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association next year.

Timmermans had five hits and eight runs batted in on the day, collecting five RBI in the opener on the strength of a fourth-inning grand slam and adding three more in the nightcap behind a two-run homer.

Kaylee Brunson, Kayce Raines, Megan Whitmire, Ashley Noles, Hannah Justus and Macy McKay also had two-hit outings in the first game that saw UCO trail 5-1 after three innings before roaring back to win going away.

The Bronchos exploded for eight runs in the fourth as Timmermans smacked her grand slam and Whitmire added a two-run shot, and UCO scored seven more in the sixth behind two-run hits from Brunson and Raines.

Rachel Steverson picked up the pitching win in relief, improving to 9-2 on the season.

Timmermans and Brunson had three hits apiece in the second game, with McKay adding two more.  Amanda McClelland earned the pitching win, moving to 8-1 on the year.

UCO took the lead in the first inning on Devyn Frazier's two-run single and Timmermans' RBI base hit and extended the lead to 8-1 in the second as Raines had an RBI double and Brunson a run-scoring single.

Timmermans cranked her two-run homer in the fifth and McKay's RBI single in the sixth gave the Bronchos the eight-run cushion needed to end the game early.
