Rolan Leads Bronchos Past Lindenwood

EDMOND (March 31) – Josh Rolan had the second straight complete-game pitching outing for Central Oklahoma while Kevin Blue and Jared Wright belted home runs to lead the Bronchos past Lindenwood 6-3 Saturday afternoon at Wendell Simmons Field.

Rolan went the distance for the second time in five starts, giving up just five hits and walking two while striking out six in improving to 3-1.

It was the fifth straight win for the Bronchos, who topped LU 4-1 Friday behind Edgar Lopez's complete-game five-hitter. UCO (20-12) and the Lions end the three-game series Sunday with a 12:30 p.m. contest.

Lindenwood took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Bronchos answered back in their first at bat without a hit. Lead-off hitter Tucker Brown was hit by pitch, went to second on a wild pitch and took third on Mike Boyle's sacrifice bunt before scoring on J.P. Maples' sacrifice fly.

The Lions scored their final run in the second and again UCO responded, taking the lead for good with a three-run volley in the bottom of that frame as Wright smoked a two-run homer, his fourth of the season and second of the series.

LU pulled within 4-3 in the fifth with an unearned run, but the Bronchos got that run back in the sixth on Blue's one-out solo homer.

UCO extended the lead to 6-2 in the seventh on a fielder's choice grounder by Boyle that scored Jacob Zinn, who had earlier doubled, and Rolan did the rest.
