Spring Practice To Open

Central Oklahoma head coach Nick Bobeck will have his first practice at the helm Tuesday when the Bronchos open spring drills at Wantland Stadium.

UCO is scheduled to practice from 3:30-6 p.m. Tuesday and will meet the NCAA-limited 15 times – including six in pull pads – over the next month before finishing on April 21.

The Bronchos will also practice Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. this week before going on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday the next three weeks.

“We just want to kind of set the tone for what we're going to be about here at UCO, that's the most important thing,” Bobeck said of his spring practice goals. “We want to establish our practice habits, number one, how we practice and how we go about our business.

“The other thing is to see who our players are. A lot of people can go in weight room and go out on field and do the running and lifting and those type things, but we want see how our kids function in an active environment, in a football environment.”

Bobeck took over the UCO reigns on Jan. 4 following a four-year stint at Navarro (Texas) College that saw him go 42-5 with a national championship.
