BOLIVAR,  Mo. (March 24) –
Kacie Edwards set a single-season school record for runs batted in and  bettered the career mark for doubles as power-hitting Central Oklahoma eclipsed the school mark for home runs in hammering Southwest Baptist twice here Saturday afternoon.

The No. 12-ranked Bronchos extended their school-record winning streak to 23 straight with 9-2 and 11-0 routs, improving to 25-3 headed into Sunday's doubleheader at Central Missouri.

Edwards went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two homers and four RBI in the second game romp, giving her 48 RBI to break the previous single-season record of 45 set by Staci Dickerson in 1996 and 38 doubles to eclipse the career mark of 37 held by three players.

UCO hit five homers on the day – two in the opener and three in the nightcap – to give it 46 on the season, eclipsing the record of 43 set in 52 games in 2008.

Nathalie Timmermans (13 homers) and Edwards (12) are both close to equaling the school record of 14 round-trippers set by Alley Roberts in 2009.

The Bronchos had 28 hits in the sweep and got complete-game pitching outings from Amanda McClelland and Rachael Steverson, with Steverson tossing a one-hitter in the second-game shutout.

UCO took a 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the top of the first inning of the opener and made it 5-0 in the third as Devyn Frazier had a two-run single.

Kayce Raines' solo homer made it 5-0 in the fourth before SBU got on the board with its lone two runs of the day in the bottom of that frame, but the Bronchos answered that with two in the fifth on Hannah Justus' two-run homer.

Justus added an RBI double in the sixth to make it 9-2 and UCO cruised in for the easy win.

Justus and Frazier both went 3-for-4 to lead UCO's 15-hit attack, while Raines, Edwards, Kaylee Brunson and Megan Whitmire had two hits apiece.

McClelland improved to 13-1 with her complete-game outing in the pitching circle, giving up five hits while striking out three.

The Bronchos scored all 11 of their second-game runs in the three innings, getting four in the third, four in the fourth and three in the fifth en route to ending that game early on the eight-run rule.

Justus and Edwards had solo homers in the third to help stake UCO to a 4-0 lead and it became an 8-0 bulge in the fourth as Timmermans had a two-run shot.

Edwards' second homer of the game – this one a three-run bomb – make it 11-0 in the fifth and Steverson gave up her lone hit of the game with one out in the bottom of that frame before closing out the game.

The senior improved to 12-2 with the pitching win, striking out three.

Edwards' four-hit performance paced UCO's 13-hit outburst, with Brunson adding three hits.  Whitmire and Justus also had two hits each.
