Bronchos Struggle

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (March 12) -- Central Oklahoma struggled on the first day of the 62nd Annual SoCal Intercollegiate Championships here Monday while forced to play without one of its top players.

The Bronchos had rounds of 311-319 for a 630 total and is tied for 10th in the 14-team tournament headed into Tuesday's final round.  Cal State-Stanislaus leads with a 593 total, followed by Grand Canyon (601), St. Edward's (602) and Sonoma State (608).

Senior star Andrew Green, who had four top-four tournament finishes in the fall and has a 72.9 career scoring average, was unable to play because of illness and UCO couldn't overcome that loss.

Josh Creel led the Bronchos and is tied for ninth in the individual standings after shooting 73-77 for a 150 total.  UCO also got a 75-81 from Baer Aneshansley, an 81-78 from Dillon Rust and an 82-83 from Trevor Stafford, while Derek Franco shot 75-86 playing as an individual medalist.
