KINGSVILLE, Texas (Feb. 23) --
Central Oklahoma struck out 15 times and was limited to three hits in dropping a 3-1 decision to Texas A&M-Kingsville here Thursday night.

The Bronchos fell to 8-4 with the loss in the opener of a three-game series that was moved up a day.  The two teams return for single games at 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.

Three UCO pitchers combined to throw a five-hitter, but that was enough to win the low-scoring contest.

"Any time you strikeout that many times you don't really give yourself a chance to win," head coach Dax Leone said.  "We obviously can't continue to not make adjustments at the plate and that's something we'll have to get corrected."

TAMUK scored in the bottom of the first and held that 1-0 lead until the eighth when the Bronchos tied it after Cory Proctor had a one-out single, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on an error following Cameron Mavroulis' infield single.

The Javelinas came back to break that 1-1 deadlock in the bottom of the eighth, putting together three hits to score two runs and UCO couldn't answer in its final at bat.

Uriah Fisher gave up just two hits and one run while fanning seven in going the first six innings.  Proctor had two of UCO's three hits.
