EDMOND (Feb. 21) –
Central Oklahoma banged out 14 hits and scored 11 runs Tuesday afternoon at Wendell Simmons Field, but it wasn't nearly enough.

Newman racked up 20 hits – including its first five home runs of the season – and walloped the Bronchos 18-11 to end UCO's four-game winning streak.

The Bronchos fell to 8-3, while the Jets won for the sixth straight time after an 0-4 start.

The game was tied 4-4 through four innings before NU took charge with an eight-run fifth.  UCO got four runs back in its half of the inning, but the Jets kept adding to their total to stay safely in front.

Cameron Mavroulis and Austin Rycroft had three hits apiece to lead the Bronchos, with Mavroulis blasting his first homer of the season and Rycroft belting a pair of doubles.

NU jumped on top 2-0 in its first at bat, with Edgar Lopez's RBI single in the bottom of the first making it 2-1.  Mavroulis' two-run homer in the second pulled UCO even at 3-all and it was tied again at 4-4 after Eric Garza's sacrifice fly in the fourth.

But the Jets sent 12 batters to the plate in the fifth and hit a pair of three-run homers to open up a 12-4 lead.  Rycroft's two-run double in the bottom of the fifth made it 12-8, but the Bronchos never got closer.

UCO travels to Kingsville, Texas this weekend to play a three-game series at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
