WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Feb. 18) –
Cold-shooting Central Oklahoma fell behind early and never recovered in dropping a 69-48 decision to No. 7-ranked Midwestern State here Saturday night.

The Bronchos got behind 7-0 in the opening minutes and made just 5-of-20 shots to trail 31-16 by halftime in having a five-game winning streak snapped by the powerful Mustangs, who improved to 22-2 on the year.

UCO fell to 14-11 and wraps up the 2011-12 season Wednesday when it hosts Northeastern State for an 8 p.m. game.

Spencer Smith was the only player to score in double figures for the Bronchos, finishing with 17 points while hitting 6-of-11 shots with a pair of 3-pointers.  Brent Friday added nine points.

UCO had a tough shooting night all around, finishing at 32.6 percent (15-of-46) overall and 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from 3-point range – both season lows – while also hitting only 13-of-27 (48.1 percent) of its free throw tries.

The Bronchos recovered from its early 7-0 hole to pull within three at 11-8 on a Shane Carroll Layup, but MSU responded with a 10-2 run to go up 21-10 with 6:45 left.

The Mustangs went on to grab the big 15-point halftime advantage and UCO got no closer than 13 in the final 20 minutes.
