EDMOND (Feb. 11) – A pair of first-period pins powered Central Oklahoma past Ouachita Baptist 25-12 Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Field House to hand head coach David James his 350th career win.

The No. 6-ranked Bronchos got falls from 133 Dustin Reed and 165 Chris Watson, with Watson's pin breaking a 9-9 tie and sparking a closing surge that saw UCO win four of the final five matches.

James, who has directed the Bronchos to 18 regional titles and 12 national championships, improved to 350-125-5 in his 30th year at the helm.  He ranks fifth in NCAA Division II and 40th on all levels of college wrestling in all-time dual wins.

UCO ended the dual season 9-5 and now has two weeks to prepare for the NCAA Division II Super Regional Championships, which are set for Feb. 25-26 in Hamilton Field House.

“It's a great honor and I'm excited about being at home to get 350 wins,” James said.  “You do something for enough years and good things will happen.  Obviously all the credit needs to go to the kids, I've just been lucky to be in the seat and be the coach.”

OBU took the early lead when fifth-ranked Garrett Evans used an escape and riding time point to edge Ryan Brooks 2-0 at 125, but Reed wasted little time in putting the Bronchos back on top.

The sophomore needed just 15 seconds to take down Seth Hutchison, then quickly turned him over and scored his second straight fall after only 51 seconds.

Casy Rowell used a pair of second-period takedowns to rally from a 5-0 deficit and he tied his 141-pound battle with Josh Myers 6-6 on a penalty point early in the third stanza, but Myers prevailed 7-6 on a riding time point.

Ky Corley put UCO back on top 9-6 with a 5-3 win at 149 behind a pair of first-period takedowns before the Tigers came back to win at 157 and knot the score at 9-all.

Watson finally put the Bronchos in front to stay with his seventh fall of the season.  The sophomore took Tyler Graham down just eight seconds into the match and hooked up a half-nelson for the pin at the 1:01 mark.

Eighth-ranked Kelly Henderson had two takedowns in a methodical 6-1 win at 174 and then OBU prevailed in a battle of ranked individuals at 184 when No. 5 Dallas Smith edged second-rated Tanner Keck 3-2.

Keck's last-second takedown gave him a 2-0 lead after one period, but Smith escaped early in the second and went ahead 3-2 on a takedown with 20 seconds left in that stanza.  Keck almost got a go-ahead takedown in the final period, but Smith held on to claim the win.

Jarrett Edison was impressive in the final dual of his career, using three takedowns and a near-fall to cruise to a 10-1 major decision at 197 and move into 12th place on UCO's all-time win list with his 117th victory.

Cody Dauphin wrapped up the dual with a 4-0 shutout at heavyweight, scoring a first-period takedown and piling up more than three minutes of riding time.
