EDMOND (April 21) –
A long winning streak ended and baffling home woes continued for Central Oklahoma here Thursday as the Bronchos dropped a 2-0 Lone Star Conference North Division decision to Southwestern Oklahoma.

The setback ended UCO's amazing 27-game winning streak over the Bulldogs that dated back to 2004 while also dropping the Bronchos to 6-9 at home, including losses in seven of the last nine games.

UCO wraps up the league and regular season schedule Friday by hosting SWOSU for a 1 p.m. doubleheader. The Bronchos fell to 24-22 overall and 6-10 in the LSC North but are still in contention for a top-four finish and a berth in the LSC Tournament May 5-7.

“I don't know why we haven't played well at home, but it's obviously something that has hurt us this year,” UCO coach Genny Stidham said. “Hopefully we can put this behind us and come out tomorrow ready to end the season on a good note.”

The Bronchos managed just five hits in the contest in suffering their 11th shutout of the season and only advanced one runner past second base. That came in the sixth when Kayce Raines led off with a single and stole second before taking third on a second-out groundball, but SWOSU got the final out with another grounder.

The Bulldogs scored an unearned run in the top of the first and kept that 1-0 lead until getting a one-out solo home run in the seventh.
