UCO Fifth In Dallas

DALLAS (March 7) – Central Oklahoma had rounds of 319-316 and was fifth after the first day of the Audible Closed Championship here Monday.

The Bronchos had a 635 total on the rare 36-hole day and are just three shots out of third heading into Tuesday's final round at The Golf Club of Dallas. Redlands Community College leads at 614, followed by Midwestern State (621), West Texas A&M (632), Dallas Baptist (633) and UCO.

“We got off to a poor start and dug a hole early,” UCO coach Michael Bond said. “We putted poorly and gave a bunch of shots away. Hopefully we can come out tomorrow and play the way we are capable of.”

Emily Leahey led the Bronchos on the opening day, shooting 81-76 for a 157 total that has her tied for ninth in the individual standings.

Erica Bensch (76-82) and Chaney Uhles (75-83) are just a shot behind in a tie for 11th. Taylor Neidy rebounded from a first-round 87 with an afternoon 75 and Mychael McWhorter shot 90-85.
