Bronchos Struggle In California

SEASIDE, Calif. (March 28) -- Central Oklahoma struggled on the first day of the Lady Otter Spring Invitational here Monday, shooting an opening-round 324 for an 11th-place showing in the 22-team tournament.

The Bronchos had two players break 80 on the par-73 Black Horse Golf Course.  Nova Southeastern shot a blistering 295 to seize a 12-shot lead in the 36-hole tournament that ends Tuesday, with California Baptist and host Cal State-Monterey Bay tied for second at 307.

UCO's best score came from a player competing as a medalist in the tournament, with Mychael McWhorter shooting a solid 76 to stand 11th in the individual standings.

Chaney Uhles and Emily Leahey had 79s to lead UCO's team, which has them tied for 22nd.  Erica Bensch shot 81, while Raelynn Farthing had an 85 and Taylor Neidy an 86.
