Bronchos Come In Third At MSU

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (March 22) -- Freshman Chaney Uhles fired a final-round 76 to lead No. 9-ranked Central Oklahoma to a third-place showing in the the Midwestern State Invitational that ended here Tuesday.

The Bronchos fired a final-round 310 to finish two trips around the Champions Course at Weeks Park with a 621 total, just four strokes back of winner Northeastern State. No. 8 St. Edward's was second at 618, followed by UCO, host Midwestern State (623) and Redlands Community College (630).

It was the seventh top-five finish in seven tournaments this year for the Bronchos.

"We played well in tough conditions and had a good, solid round today," UCO coach Michael Bond said. "We dropped some shots on the last three holes, but it was a good tournament for us."

Uhles shot her second straight 76 in the final round and finished sixth in the individual race with a 152 total. Senior Raelynn Farthing and rookie Tyalor Neidy both shot 77 and tied for 10th at 155, while Emily Leahey added a closing 80 and Erica Bensch an 84.

The Bronchos return to action next week at the CSU-Monterey Bay Invitational in Seaside, Calif.
