WICHITA FALLS, Texas (March 21) -- Four players shot in the 70s and Central Oklahoma is a close third after the first round of the Midwestern State Invitational here Monday.

The Bronchos finished with a 311 total on the Champions Course at Weeks Park, trailing co-leaders Midwestern State and Northeastern State by just one shot.  St. Edward's is fourth in the 16-team field at 312, with Redlands Community College fifth at 315.

Final-round play begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, with UCO set to start teeing off at 10 a.m.

"I was proud of the way we played in some tough conditions with the wind," UCO coach Michael Bond said.  "We dropped some shots coming in after getting off to a good start, but hopefully we can come back and post a good score tomorrow."

Freshman Chaney Uhles led the Bronchos with an opening-round 76 that has her tied for fifth in the individual standings.   Raelynn Farthing and Taylor Neidy both shot 78, Emily Leahey added a 79 and Erica Bensch had an 80.
