LAWTON, Okla. (Feb. 26) --
Victor Driver scored five straight points to turn back a late Cameron comeback as Central Oklahoma ended the regular season with a 78-68 Lone Star Conference North Division victory here Saturday.

The Aggies had trimmed a 10-point UCO to two at 67-65 with 3:27 left to play, but Driver made two free throws and a 3-pointer in a 39-second span to push the lead back to eight and the Bronchos went on register their 25th win of the season.

UCO improved to 25-3 -- the second-most wins in school history -- and finished 11-1 in claiming its fourth consecutive LSC North championship. The Bronchos will take on Eastern New Mexico at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the LSC Tournament.

“This is always a tough place to play and we're happy about getting out of here with a win,” UCO coach Terry Evans said. “We had a great regular season, but now it's time to get ready for the post-season and we're looking forward to that.”

Tyler Phillips scored 16 points to lead the Bronchos, while brother Tucker added 14 points and eight rebounds. Driver finished with a season-high 12 points, hitting all six of his free throw tries, and Shane Carroll chipped in 10.

Dauntae Williams, the league's leading scorer, was held to a career-low seven points. UCO shot just 39.7 percent (23-of-58) from the field, but had only seven turnovers and forced the Aggies into 23.

The Bronchos appeared in control after taking a 67-55 lead with eight minutes to play, but CU reeled off 10 unanswered points to get within 67-65 and make things interesting.

Driver stopped the run with two free throws at the 2:40 mark and he added a 3-pointer 39 seconds later to push UCO's lead back to seven at 72-65.

The Aggies responded with a 3-pointer to make it 72-68, but Brent Friday drove in for a layup and Tyler Phillips made four straight free throws down the stretch to close out the win.

UCO jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead on a Tyler Phillips layup and Williams trey, with the Aggies coming back with a 13-2 run to go on top 13-7.

It was a 20-15 deficit when the Bronchos went on a 16-2 spurt to take the lead for good, getting 3-pointers from Williams and Tucker Phillips along with a conventional three-point play from June Carter.

UCO led 34-24 after a Driver trey at the 4:39 mark, but Cameron ended the half with a 9-1 run to get within 35-33 at the break.
