OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 22) --
Central Oklahoma managed just six hits in dropping a 7-1 decision to perennial NAIA powerhouse Oklahoma City here Tuesday afternoon.

The No. 7-ranked Stars had 13 hits against six UCO pitchers as the Bronchos fell to 4-6 on the season.

“OCU made things happen and those guys know how to win,” head coach Dax Leone said. “We don't quite know yet, but we're hopefully learning every time we play.”

The Stars broke a scoreless tie with a single run in the fourth inning and made it 4-0 in the fifth before UCO pushed across its lone run in the top of the sixth.

Austin Rycroft started things when he drew a two-out walk before going to second on Keegan Morrow's single through the right side and scoring on Kevin Blue's base hit to right-center field.

But the Bronchos couldn't muster any more runs and OCU put the game away with a three-run eighth.

Morrow had two of UCO's six hits. Stephen Spirlock had a solid outing on the mound, starting and throwing three shutout innings while giving up three hits and striking out two.

The Bronchos return to Lone Star Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Southwestern Oklahoma.
