Box Score

EDMOND (Jan. 22) –
No. 13-ranked Central Oklahoma ripped off the first nine points of the game to seize control early and cruised past Lone Star Conference North Division rival Southeastern Oklahoma 71-45 Saturday night at Hamilton Field House to extend a pair of winning streaks.

The Bronchos won for the eighth straight time overall and the 20th consecutive time at home in improving to 18-2 on the year and 4-0 in the North.

SOSU came back from its early 9-0 deficit to tie the game at 13-13, but UCO quickly regained command and went on to a 17-point halftime lead en route to the easy – though sloppy – win.

Senior All-American Dauntae Williams once again led the way, flushing down four dunks en route to a 21-point, six-rebound, four-assist outing as the only player to finish in double figures.

Carl Curry had nine points, eight rebounds and three steals and D.J. Lemons also had nine points as the Bronchos got 31 points from their bench in the runaway.

Tyler Phillips hit a game-opening 3-pointer to give UCO a lead it would never relinquish and added a layup a minute later to give the Bronchos a quick 5-0 lead, with a Williams dunk and a driving layup by Brent Friday making it 9-0 barely two minutes into the game.

The Savage Storm rallied to tie it at 13-all at the 11:54 mark, but the Bronchos answered back quickly. Williams' layup broke that deadlock and ignited a 14-3 spurt that ended with a Tony Ross free throw that made it 27-16 with 6:01 remaining.

UCO went on to take a 37-20 lead at the break when Williams drained a 3-pointer with one second left and SOSU never made a game of it in the final 20 minutes.

The Bronchos have a week off before returning to LSC North action next Saturday at home against East Central.
