EDMOND (Aug. 19) – Perennial national wrestling powerhouse Central Oklahoma will have six home duals during the 2010-11 season, according to the schedule that was released Thursday.

The Bronchos of 29th-year head coach David James will host five NCAA Division II teams and near-by NAIA rival Oklahoma City in addition to going on the road for six individual tournaments, two dual tournaments and three duals.

UCO will preview the team with the annual Bronze-Blue intrasquad match on Nov. 3, with the first regular season home dual on Dec. 2 against Colorado State-Pueblo.  The Bronchos host OCU on Dec. 9, with other home matches coming on Jan. 13 against Fort Hays State, Jan. 22 against Adams State and Feb. 11 against Ouachita Baptist and Newman.

UCO will participate in open tournaments at OCU, Central Missouri, Nebraska-Omaha, Forth Hays State and Missouri Valley in addition to going to the Newman Invitational.  The Bronchos travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa on Jan. 8-9 for the NWCA Division I National Duals and to Grand Prairie, Texas on Jan. 15 for the Lone Star Duals.

The only road duals against individual teams comes during a one-week span in late January-early February when UCO goes to Nebraska-Kearney (Jan. 27), defending national champion Nebraska-Omaha (Jan. 28) and Central Missouri (Feb. 3).

“It's a good schedule and will definitely challenge us,” said James, who has a 326-116-5 dual record and has led the Bronchos to 12 of their 15 national championships.  “We're going to have a young team that's going to have to grow up in a hurry to get to where we want to be.”

UCO returns seven starters from last year's team that went 8-5 in duals, finished third in the Super Regional II and 15th in the national tournament.
