UCO Picked Third In Cross Country

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (July 20) -- Central Oklahoma has been selected for a third-place Lone Star Conference finish in women's cross country according to the preseason poll released here Tuesday during the league's annual Media Day Banquet.
The Bronchos earned 261 points in voting of LSC head coaches, sports information directors and various media members to tie East Central for third in the 13-team conference. Defending champion Midwestern State earned the favorite's tag with 23 first-place votes and 359 points, while Angelo State was second with four first-place nods and 310 points.
West Texas A&M was fifth in the poll with 249 points, followed by Abilene Christian (239), Incarnate Word (178), Tarleton State (171), Eastern New Mexico (160), Southwestern Oklahoma (111), Texas A&M-Kingsville (97), Texas A&M-Commerce (70) and Southeastern Oklahoma (50).
UCO has eight runners back from last year's team that finished fourth in the league race, led by seniors Julia Crocker and Alina Istrate.
The Bronchos open the 2010 season on Sept. 11, hosting the UCO Land Run.
