Bronchos Tabbed For Second In Soccer Poll

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (July 20) – Six-time champion Central Oklahoma is predicted to finish second in the Lone Star Conference women's soccer race in 2010, it was announced at the league's annual Media Day Banquet here Tuesday.

The Bronchos, who finished second to West Texas A&M last year before winning the LSC Tournament to earn their fourth NCAA Division II playoff appearance in five years, collected nine first-place votes and 356 points in balloting of head coaches, sports information directors and media representatives.

The Lady Buffs earned the favorite's role, finishing with 20 first-place nods and 370 points. Midwestern State came in third with 288 points, followed by LSC newcomer Incarnate Word (274), Abilene Christian (256), Texas Woman's (239), Texas A&M-Commerce (235), Angelo State (175), Southwestern Oklahoma (121), Eastern New Mexico (93), Northeastern State (83) and East Central (81).

UCO has 13 letterwinners, including five starters, back from last year's 14-6-3 team. The Bronchos open the season on Sept. 3, hosting Nebraska-Omaha.
