EDMOND (April 3) –
Central Oklahoma dropped a Lone Star Conference twinbill to Tarleton State Saturday afternoon at Broncho Field, losing a tough 6-5 decision in the first game before falling 20-4 in the nightcap.

The Bronchos fell to 11-20 on the year and 8-20 in league play with the two losses.  UCO returns to action Tuesday, hosting Oklahoma Christian for a single nine-inning contest at 3:30 p.m.

Tarleton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the opener, but the Bronchos answered back with three runs in their half of the inning as Luke Yost had an RBI double and Brady White a run-scoring triple.

The Texans responded with three runs in the top of the second to take the lead for good, though UCO trailed just 5-4 after getting an RBI groundout from Taylor Brown in the bottom of that inning.

TSU added a run in the fifth to make it 6-4 and the Bronchos got within a run again in the sixth when Ryan Schoonover doubled and scored on Casey Bruns' single.  But UCO missed an opportunity to take the lead in that frame by leaving two runners on base and then went down in order in the seventh as the Texans held on.

Yost and Arrow Cunningham had two hits apiece to pace an eight-hit attack.

The Bronchos trailed just 2-1 after two innings of the second game before Tarleton broke it open with a seven-run third to take a 9-1 lead.  Tarleton added 11 runs in the next four innings to end the game early on the 10-run rule.

Yost and White had two hits each for UCO, with White ripping a three-run homer.
