Bronchos Wrap Up Spring Practice

Daniel Morrell
EDMOND (April 24) – Central Oklahoma wrapped up spring football drills Saturday night with a spirited one-hour scrimmage at Wantland Stadium.

Running back Josh Birmingham broke off several long runs and redshirt freshmen quarterbacks Landon Greve and Ethan Sharp both had strong outings to highlight the offense that held the upper hand most of the evening.

Linebacker Tucker Cason and several young defensive backs led the defensive unit.

“We made a lot of progress this spring on both sides of the ball,” UCO coach Tracy Holland said.  “Offensively, we were really explosive and a lot of our young wide receivers showed that they have a good grasp on what we're trying to do.  We had some linemen out with injuries, but the group that was in there did a great job.

“We made big strides with our defense, though again we're really young and inexperienced.  We've got a hard-working group of players who are determined to get better and you can't question the work ethic they've shown.”

The Bronchos will report to campus for the start of preseason practice in early August.  UCO will play six of its 11 games at home in 2010, starting with an Aug. 28 meeting against Pittsburg State.
