THACKERVILLE, Okla. (April 19) – Cassy Knight stayed near the top of the individual leaderboard and Central Oklahoma had three players shoot 75 or better on the second day of the Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Championship here Monday.
Knight, the defending champion who led after Sunday's opening round, fired an even-par 72 at the WinStar Golf Course and is second in the medalist standings at 146. Angelo State's Raelyn Smith shot a four-under-par 68 to take the lead at 145.
Raelynn Farthing and Emily Leahey both carded 75s, while Mychael McWhorter shot 82 and Erica Bensch 84 as the Bronchos finished with a season-low 304 total. UCO is fourth in the 10-team tournament at 626.
Tarleton State rallied to take the team lead, shooting a second-round 293 for a 614 total. West Texas A&M is second at 615, followed by Angelo State (617) and the Bronchos.

“We played pretty well today, but still left some shots out there,” UCO coach Michael Bond said. “We need to come out tomorrow and post four good scores and see what happens.
“Cassy was really on with her short game today and she's playing with a lot of confidence. Emily and Rae both played steady and did a great job.”
Knight had eight pars and a birdie on the par-4 sixth hole in making the turn at one-under 35 and she got to minus-two with a six-foot birdie putt on the par-4 12th.
The senior dropped back to even with bogeys on Nos. 13 and 14 before finishing with four consecutive pars.
Farthing opened her round with 12 straight pars and then followed a bogey on the par-5 13th hole with two more pars. She ran into trouble on Nos. 16 and 17 in making back-to-back bogeys before finishing with a par for a back-nine 39 and the 75.
The junior is tied for fourth in the individual race at 151.
Leahey knocked 10 strokes off her first-round score in recording her lowest round of the year. She had five pars, three bogeys and a birdie in shooting a front-nine 38, then birdied the par-4 10th and followed with three consecutive pars.
The sophomore bogeyed three of the next four holes to fall to four-over for the day, but ended with a birdie on the par-5 18th to wrap up her comeback round.
McWhorter struggled to a 44 on the front nine and then bogeyed the first two holes on the back nine before rebounding to par the final seven holes in shooting her 82.
