SEASIDE, Calif (March 29) – Cassy Knight was the lone Central Oklahoma golfer to break 80 and the Bronchos finished the first day of the Lady Otter Spring Invitational tied for 12th place here Monday.

Knight had a 78 at par-73 Blackhorse Golf Club as the Bronchos finished at 325.  California Baptist leads the rugged 19-team tournament at 299, three shots ahead of Cal State-Monterey Bay.

Final-round play begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

“We played okay, but we had too many loose shots that cost us,” UCO coach Michael Bond said.  “Hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow and move up the ladder some.”

Knight put together a consistent day with consecutive 39s for her 78 that has her tied for 22nd in the individual race.  The Bronchos also got an 81 from Raelynn Farthing, while Erica Bensch shot 82, Mychael McWhorter 84 and Maria Jimenez 85.
