Williams Named All-Region

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (March 10) – Central Oklahoma standout Dauntae Williams has been named a first-team selection on the Daktronics All-South Central Regional team, it was announced Wednesday.

The junior guard from Missouri City, Texas was one of five players on the elite first-team unit and will now go on the ballot for the Daktronics All-America team.

Joining Williams on the first team were Sanijay Watts and Alex Moosmann of Central Missouri, Matt Rogers of Southwest Baptist and LaMarshall Corbett of Angelo State, with Watts named Player of the Year.  Making up the second-team is Incarnate Word's Pierce Caldwell, Jason Ebie and Craig Green of Midwestern State, Kevin Kotzur of St. Mary's, Reggie Shanks of St. Edward's and Nebraska-Omaha's Tyler Bullock.

Williams has had a dominating season in leading the Bronchos to a 22-6 record, a third straight Lone Star Conference North Division title and a berth in the NCAA Division II national tournament that starts Saturday with a first-round game against Fort Hays State.

Named LSC North Division Player of the Year last week, Williams ranks among the South Central Region leads in assists (second, 5.5), scoring (third, 19.9), steals (third, 2.4), field goal percentage (fifth, 56.9) and rebounding (12th, 7.7).

He was selected LSC North Division Player of the Week seven times, claiming the defensive award four times and the offensive honor three times.  Williams ranks fifth in steals (68), seventh in assists (154) and 21st in points (557) on the school's single-season list and he's had two triple-doubles this season, the first at UCO since 1991.
