REUNION, Fla. (Feb. 8) -- Central Oklahoma got off to a slow start in the season-opening Golfweek Spring Invitational here Sunday and Monday.
The Bronchos, who were unable to practice outside for two weeks prior to going to the tournament, were tied for 16th in the rugged 18-team field after opening with rounds of 311-313 at 6,982-yard, par-72 The Independence Course.
Nova Southeastern leads the elite field at 589, two strokes ahead of West Florida and three in front of Lynn. The 54-hole tournament concludes Tuesday.
Sophomore Andrew Green leads UCO with a 151 total after rounds of 74-77. He made eight pars, six bogeys and four birdies in an up-and-down first-day 74 and shot even-par on his opening nine Monday before coming in with a 41 for the 77.
Redshirt freshman Dillon Rust rebounding from an 80 in Sunday's first round with a 74 Monday, shooting a one-under 35 on the back nine.
The Bronchos have also got rounds of 79-80 from freshman Colin Morgan, 78-82 from junior Matt Charlson and 80-82 from senior Zach Cleland.
