EDMOND (Feb. 18) --
Central Oklahoma made a successful home debut Thursday afternoon, easily taking care of Cowley County Community College 7-2 on the wind-blown Broncho Courts.

The Bronchos took two of the three doubles matches to seize a 2-1 lead and then claimed five of the six singles bouts to complete the rout.

Julia Shviadok rallied for a 6-7, 6-4, 10-8 win at No. 1 singles, while Eli Abramovic, Lacy Caldwell, Virginie Rodriguez and Rose Cabato all claimed straight set wins.  Cabato didn't drop a set in scoring a dominating 6-0, 6-0 shutout.

Caldwell and Rodriquez teamed up for one doubles victory, with freshmen Meredith Marney and Lindsey Sweetgall earning the other win.

"It was a good start to our outdoor season," UCO coach Natalya Smith said.  "The girls all worked really hard the last couple of weeks and you could see the results in today's match.  I know with more match time and more confidence that we can continue to be successful."

The Bronchos, who fell to Oklahoma State on indoor courts in their 2010 opener two weeks ago, return to action next Wednesday with a 2 p.m. match at Southern Nazarene.
