EDMOND (Feb. 17) –
All 11 players in uniform scored and Central Oklahoma overcame an early seven-point deficit to bury Texas A&M-Commerce in an avalanche of 3-pointers and layups en route to a 92-59 thumping Wednesday night at Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos shot a season-best 59.3 percent (35-of-59) from the field, making 20 layups while also nailing a season-high 12 3-pointers in tying a school record with their ninth consecutive win.

UCO improved to 19-5 on the year and stayed tied for the Lone Star Conference North Division lead at 10-1.   The Bronchos go to Tahlequah for a big showdown with league co-leader Northeastern State Saturday at 2 p.m.

“We got off to a horrible start and just made a lot of silly mistakes early,” UCO coach Guy Hardaker said.   “We finally got going and then did a really good job running the offense and getting a lot of easy shots.”

The Bronchos handed out a season-high 30 assists, outscored A&M-C 45-8 in bench points and had 25 fast-break points while putting four players in double figures.

Savannah Hamilton led the way with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, while Alyssa Fuxa made 7-of-8 shots and had 16 points.   Courtney Allen made four 3-pointers in a 14-point outing and Ashley Beckley was 6-of-7 from the field in scoring 13 points while adding a team-high seven rebounds.

UCO struggled early, committing four early turnovers in falling into a 13-6 hole four minutes into the contest. It was still a five-point deficit at 17-12 when Allen hit a pair of treys in a 10-2 run that put the Bronchos on top to stay, 22-17.

The Lions were within three at 28-25 when UCO took control, getting eight points from Beckley in an 18-2 scoring spurt that upped the lead to 46-27 with 3:32 left in the half.

The Bronchos went on to a take a 22-point (52-30) lead at the break and A&M-C got no closer than 18 the rest of the way.
