EDMOND (Jan. 9) –
Another quick start put Central Oklahoma in the driver's seat early and the Bronchos stretched their winning streak to seven straight with a 95-64 drubbing of Lone Star Conference rival West Texas A&M Saturday at Hamilton Field House.

UCO sprinted to an 8-0 two minutes into the mismatch and was never tested in running its record to 11-4, with the Bronchos shooting a season-high 58.6 percent (34-of-58) from the field – including 52.6 percent (10-of-18) from 3-point range – to overcome 50-percent (17-of-34) shooting from the free throw line.

Coach Terry Evans' crew used similar starts in wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Eastern New Mexico earlier this week, getting out to a 7-0 lead over the Javelinas and a 13-6 advantage over the Greyhounds en route to a pair of routs.

“We came out really ready to play and got after them pretty good in the first half,” Evans said. “We shot the ball extremely well and played tough defense, forcing them into turnovers that we were able to convert on the other end.”

Once again the Bronchos featured a balanced attack, with all five starters scoring in double figures.

Dauntae Williams led the way 19 points while adding six rebounds and six assists, with Eric Cazenave collecting 18 points and six assists.   UCO also got 16 points from Tyler Phillips, 15 from Chris Rhymes and 12 from Brent Friday.

Phillips had a 3-pointer, Rhymes a layup and Friday a layup and free throw in the game-opening 8-0 run that gave the Bronchos a lead they would never relinquish.

The lead reached double digits at 24-14 on a Rhymes trey with 11:24 left in the half and it ballooned to a 19-point advantage (47-28) on Cazenave's three-point play with 2:40 remaining before UCO went to the locker room up 17, 49-32.

WTAMU got no closer than 16 in the final 20 minutes as the Bronchos coasted in with their 31st win in the last 33 home games.

UCO will begin its quest for a third consecutive LSC North Division title Wednesday when the Bronchos travel to Ada to take on East Central.
