LAWTON, OKla. (Jan. 23) --
Ashley Beckley and Alyssa Fuxa spearheaded a dominating inside attack that carried Central Oklahoma to an 89-69 Lone Star Conference North Division rout of Cameron here Saturday afternoon.

The Bronchos repeatedly found openings in the paint against CU's zone defense, with Beckley and Fuxa making the Aggies pay time after time in scoring a combined 44 points while converting 13 of UCO's 23 layups.

Beckley was 7-of-9 from the field and 9-of-9 from the free throw line in scoring a season-high 23 points, while Fuxa came off the bench to hit 8-of-11 shots and all five foul shots in finishing with a career-best 21 points.

That was more than enough to give UCO its second straight league win, with the Bronchos improving to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in the LSC North.

“We did a good job of attacking their zone and getting some easy baskets,” UCO coach Guy Hardaker said.  “Ashley and Alyssa were really aggressive inside and that was the difference. It's always good to win on the road and we just want to keep getting better.”

The Bronchos shot a sizzling 55.8 percent (29-of-52) from the field despite making just 3-of-17 attempts (17.6 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc.  UCO also shot a season-high 90.3 percent (28-of-31) from the charity stripe and outrebounded the Aggies 35-25.

Savannah Hamilton had a big game off the bench for the Bronchos, hitting 5-of-7 shots with a 3-pointer and all six free throw tries in a 17-point outing.  Jordan Stark had a game-high 11 rebounds to go with eight points, three assists and two blocked shots.

UCO had 11 first-half layups and got a combined 21 points from Beckley (12) and Fuxa (9) in taking a 39-24 halftime lead.

CU led 7-6 early, with Beckley scoring all six points, before the Bronchos went on a 10-0 tear to move in front to stay.

Four different players scored in that run, with Stark and Beckley making back-to-back layups before Hamilton and Rose Anderson nailed consecutive 3-pointers to give the Bronchos a 16-7 lead at the 15:25 mark.

UCO used a 9-0 spurt to push the cushion to 17 (31-14) at 7:05, with the Aggies coming back to cut that to an 11-point deficit at 33-22.  The Bronchos got two inside buckets from Fuxa and another from Stark in the final three minutes of the half to go to the locker room up 39-24.

Beckley opened the second half like she did the game, scoring UCO's first six points as the Bronchos went ahead 45-26. Fuxa then took over, exploding for 12 points in a three-minute span that moved the lead to 22 (57-35) with 13:18 left to play.

The Bronchos stayed comfortably in front and upped the lead to 25 (79-54) with 5:30 remaining after consecutive layups by Courtney Allen and Stark before CU reeled off nine unanswered points to get within 16 (79-63) with 3:30 remaining.

That was close as the Aggies would get, however, as UCO scored four straight points to make it 83-63 and went on to close out the 20-point romp.

The Bronchos continue LSC North action Wednesday, traveling to Texas A&M-Commerce for a 6 p.m. contest.
