WASHBURN, Kan. -- Central Oklahoma gets its abbreviated fall tennis schedule underway here Friday when the Bronchos compete in the ITA South Central Regional Championships.

UCO will take four players to the event that will include 16 teams, with 64 players in the singles bracket and 32 teams in the doubles bracket.  Champions in both singles and doubles will join seven other regional winners at the ITA Small College Championships Oct. 15-17 in Mobile, Ala.

Set to compete for the Bronchos will be junior Lacy Caldwell, sophomores Julia Shviadok and Elizabeta Abramovic and freshman Anto Rossini.

Caldwell has started the past two years and was 12-7 in singles last season while also teammed with departed senior Audrey Donovan at No. 1 doubles.  Shviadok was an All-Lone Star Conference performer in singles while finishing with a 14-5 record and also earned All-LSC honors in doubles with Abramovic.

"The girls have been working really hard and we're looking forward to the tournament," UCO coach Natalya Smith said.  "It will be a tough event with a lot of very good players, but I'm confident we can do well."

The only other scheduled event in the fall for the Bronchos is the Lone Star Conference Individual Championships, set for Oct. 9-10 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
