ABILENE, Texas (March 10) – Central Oklahoma standout Lizzie Brenner has been named a first-team selection on the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-South Central Regional Team, it was announced Tuesday.

Joining Brenner on the elite five-player first-team unit were Player of the Year Emily Brister of West Texas A&M, Britney Jordan of Texas A&M-Commerce, Ida Edwards of Emporia State and Janice Bright of Washburn.  Each member of the eight first-team all-region squads advances to the All-America ballot.

It's the second straight year for Brenner to make the first-team All-South Central Regional team, which is comprised of teams from the Lone Star Conference, the Heartland Conference and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

The 5-10 senior forward from Woodward, Okla. is averaging 14.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.8 blocked shots a game for the Bronchos, who will be making their second straight appearance in the NCAA Division II national tournament this weekend.

Brenner has led UCO to a 25-5 record – tied for the most wins in school history – and the LSC North Division champion Bronchos will be the No. 3 seed in the South Central Regional this weekend in Canyon, Texas, meeting Southeastern Oklahoma in the first round at 1 p.m. Friday.

Brenner has played in every game (117) with 107 starts during her stellar four-year career at UCO and holds school career records for points, rebounds, steals, blocks, field goals made and attempted and free throws made and attempted.  She also set a single-season record for blocks this year with 54.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition.  The team is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
