EDMOND (Oct. 7) –
Meaghan Wedberg wrapped up her impressive Central Oklahoma career with another stellar all-around performance Saturday night at Hamilton Field House to pace the surging Bronchos to a clutch Lone Star Conference win over Midwestern State.

A four-year starter who has played in every match and more than 500 sets during her career, Wedberg had 45 assists, 12 digs, five kills, three service aces and a block as the Bronchos turned back the Mustangs 25-15, 25-17, 19-25, 25-14 for their season-high fifth straight win.

UCO improved to 16-15 on the year and finished fifth in the league with a 7-6 mark in clinching a berth in the LSC Tournament, set for Thursday-Saturday in Canyon, Texas.  The Bronchos will take on fourth-seeded Texas A&M-Commerce at 5 p.m. Thursday in first-round action.

“We're playing our best volleyball right now and we're looking forward to the conference tournament,” UCO coach Jeff Boyland said.  “We came out with a purpose tonight and played extremely well, especially in the first two sets.  It was great to win our final match at home and send Meaghan out on a good note.”

Kristen Wilson had a match-high 19 kills to go along with three blocks and two aces, while freshman Morgan Roy contributed a season-high 14, 12 digs, three blocks and two aces.  The Bronchos also got nine kills apiece from Zuela Adom and Courtney Whitlow.

UCO took control early in the first set, getting three kills from Roy  in scoring nine unanswered points to break away from a 3-3 tie and cruising in from there.

The Bronchos jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead in the second set en route to taking control of the match, with MSU coming back to win a back-and-forth third set.

UCO didn't let the Mustangs continue the momentum in the fourth set, hitting .371 with 17 kills and just four errors while leading all the way to close out the match.
