Bronchos Do Well In Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. – A runner-up finish in one race to highlighted a strong performance by the Central Oklahoma rowing team here Sunday as the Bronchos ended the fall season at the Wichita Frostbite Regatta.
UCO finished second in the Lightweight 4+ race, just 36 seconds behind winner Kansas. The boat was coxed by Christina Cantrell and had Calah Lynes, Stephanie Lay, Katie Spaulding and Kasey Bartodej rowing.
The regatta also gave the novice program their first chance to compete this season, with the Bronchos coming in sixth in the Novice 8+ event. Stephanie Lay, Courtney Craig, Courtney Donley, Sarah Jones, Jessica Lambrecht, Rachel Kliewer, Ana Sharp, Lindley Hood and Victoria Crowson made up that unit.
UCO had two boats in the Collegiate 4+, with the team rowed by Brighton Hutton, Laura Borkenhagen, Jessica Lawson and Brittany Koster and coxed by Rachel Basinger finishing ninth out of 21 teams. In the other boat was Sierra Crook, Kristin Philhower, Nicole Gibbon, Katerina Gabrovska and Lauren Winston.
The Bronchos also entered two teams in the Collegiate 8+. Lynes, Lawson, Hutton, Borkenhagen, Gabrovska, Philhower, Spaulding, Koster and Basinger made up one boat, with Lay, Jones, Bartodej, Gibbon, Crook, Lawson, Klewier, Hood and Cantrell in the other.
UCO will resume the season in March.
